ジョージタウン大学大学院にて応用言語学の博士号を取得。Second Language Testing, Inc.、ベネッセコーポレーション、ベルリッツコーポレーションなどの教育関連企業に勤務し、Director of Strategy、Director of Teaching and Learning、Head of Testing and Localization などの役職を歴任。2025年より George Mason University のDepartment of Modern and Classical Languages にて Japanese Studies Coordinator として教鞭を執る。
